Steptoe & Johnson has just opened its first office in Asia. The first office resides in Beijing. Partner Eric Emerson has relocated from the firm's Washington office to Beijing. Susan Munro, a lateral partner from O'Melveny & Myers, will also practice out of the new office.
Attorney Michael Fosh has dumped Herbert Smith for Reed Smith. Fosh joins later's Beijing office as a corporate partner. He served as the Beijing chief representative for Herbert Smith.
Latham & Watkins LLP has opened an office in Beijing, making it the firms fifth office in Asia, and its third in China. This addition follows the launching of offices by Winston & Strawn LLP and Slaughter and May in China in 2009.
Winston & Strawn has hired Ge Xiangyang from Baker & McKenzie LLP. Xiangyang will be in charge of the firm's new Beijing office. Winston & Strawn took over the Beijing and Shanghai offices from deceased firm Heller Ehrman LLP. Xiangyang focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions.
