Gibson Dunn & Crutcher is preparing to open its Sao Paulo office. It has yet to be approved by the Brazilian Bar, but apparently the firm believes it is in the bag. Shearman & Sterling’s Dick Aldrich has switched over to Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom. Aldrich is to lead Skadden’s Sao Paulo office, presiding over its five permanent associates. Skadden lost its only Sao Paulo partner towards the end of 2008. Source: www.thelawyer.com |

Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has announced plans to an office in Sao Paulo later this year. This will be the firm's first office outside of Asia and the UK and its sixth office. Aviation and insurance litigation partner Jeremy Shebson, currently based in London, will relocate to Sao Paulo once formally opened. The office will focus on aviation, but also on expanding its marine, energy, trade, insurance, and arbitration practices.
