Herbert Smith and Freehills Announce New York Office Opening and Confirm Further Hires

International law firms and merger partners Herbert Smith LLP and Freehills announced today the official office opening in New York. The office opens for business today, 4 September 2012, and will initially operate as Herbert Smith New York. On 1 October 2012, the official launch date of the new firm Herbert Smith Freehills, it will become part of the Herbert Smith Freehills’ international network.

HWL Ebsworth Acts on Five Mile Uranium Project Strategic Alliance

HWL Ebsworth has advised Alliance Resources Limited (“Alliance”) in relation to its recently established strategic alliance with ITOCHU Corporation (“ITOCHU”). Under the terms of the strategic alliance, ITOCHU will have the right to subscribe for an initial 14.9% shareholding in Alliance, or a wholly owned subsidiary of Alliance that hold’s the company’s interest in the Four Mile Uranium Project. ITOCHU has also been granted an option to acquire a further 25.1% interest in the Alliance subsidiary.
