Greenberg Traurig Expands Corporate M&A Team with Samuel Garcia Nelen

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Amsterdam office continues its strategic growth with the addition of Samuel Garcia Nelen as shareholder in its Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Practice. Shareholder Maarten de Boorder joined the same team in October. Garcia Nelen joins from Allen & Overy.

Garcia Nelen focuses on private and public M&A and equity capital markets transactions, advising corporations and financial institutions on corporate governance, stock listing rules, and environmental, social & governance. He earned a Ph.D. in corporate governance around strategic issues at listed companies in 2020 and is a part-time associate professor of corporate law at Erasmus School of Law in Rotterdam.

“Samuel is considered a leading individual in public and private M&A, capital markets transactions, and corporate governance. His practice and experience are complementary to our existing practice, enabling us to further strengthen our M&A position, both nationally and internationally,” co-managing shareholders of the firm’s Amsterdam office Herald Jongen and Thomas van der Vliet said.

“I am delighted that, with Samuel, we can add another strong shareholder to our team in a short period of time. This marks an important milestone in the growth and future of our firm, and enables us to even better meet the needs of our clients,” head of the firm’s Amsterdam M&A Practice Bas Vletter said.

Garcia Nelen said, “I am excited to contribute to the growth of the Amsterdam office. Greenberg Traurig is an international powerhouse, and the Amsterdam team is very talented and ambitious, delivering top quality in a pragmatic way while also having fun. I am confident we will further expand our position in the Dutch market in the coming years.”
