Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that financial services attorney Terrence Davis has joined the firm’s Atlanta office as a partner. Mr. Davis formerly practiced with Baker Donelson.
“Terry’s experience in representing investment companies and all manner of private investment funds is quite unique and we’re seeing an increased need for this specialized representation,” said Allen Maines, executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Atlanta office. “Our goal is to continue growing our corporate and financial services practice in Atlanta and Terry’s arrival is an excellent step in that direction. In that regard, we intend to develop a full-service investment management practice across our firm led by Terry and Brad Van Buren from our Boston office.”
Mr. Davis focuses his practice on serving clients in the financial services industry, including investment companies, investment company boards of directors, variable insurance product manufacturers and distributors, hedge funds, venture capital funds, private equity funds, investment advisers, and retail and wholesale broker-dealers. In connection with the design, offering and operation of public and private pooled investment vehicles, he advises clients on federal securities laws. He also counsels broker-dealers, investment advisers and fund clients regarding the design, implementation and evaluation of their compliance programs.
In addition, Mr. Davis routinely advises clients with respect to regulatory examinations and enforcement actions. Earlier in his career, he served as the Rule 38a-1 chief compliance officer and enterprise compliance officer for ING U.S. Financial Services. Mr. Davis is admitted to practice in Georgia, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
