The global law firm Jones Day announced that Ginger R. Burton has joined the Firm’s Atlanta Office as a partner in the Real Estate Practice. Ms. Burton was a partner in Alston & Bird, LLP’s Atlanta office.
“Ginger brings deep and broad financing experience to our already outstanding real estate practice,” said Richard H. Deane, Jr., Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s Atlanta Office. “Her track record in major deals throughout the Southeast, the U.S., and internationally, particularly in relation to REITs and other real estate finance companies, will be of great interest to clients in Atlanta’s dynamic property market and far beyond.”
Ms. Burton has represented institutional lenders and companies in a variety of secured and unsecured financing transactions, including acquisition financings, syndicated credit facilities, and asset based financings. Much of her work has focused on financial institutions providing credit facilities to REITs and other real estate finance companies. Ms. Burton’s experience also includes loan restructuring and workouts.
“As the financing transactions handled by our global real estate practice grow larger and more complex, being able to call upon an experienced lawyer like Ginger is enormously valuable to clients,” said Michael J. Haas, co-leader of Jones Day’s Real Estate Practice. “Ginger’s broad experience with respect to structuring financing transactions for real estate related entities will help us to continue to develop creative solutions to our clients’ challenges. To that end, she will also be working with our Banking & Finance team to bring additional approaches in all areas of the Firm that relate to finance.”
A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law (J.D. cum laude; Georgia Law Review, Articles Editor) and Agnes Scott College (B.A. with High Honor), Ms. Burton was named to Super Lawyers’ Georgia Rising Stars in 2013 and 2014.
