King & Spalding’s Atlanta Office Adds Another Securities Litigator

King & Spalding today announced that securities litigator Lisa Bugni has joined the Trial and Global Disputes practice as a partner in the Atlanta office and will relocate to the firm’s San Francisco office in May 2018. Bugni joins her former colleague Jessica Corley who started at the firm last month. She was formerly a partner in the Litigation Group at Alston & Bird in Atlanta.

Bugni’s practice focuses on securities and complex commercial litigation, and has a proven track record of defending securities class action matters, shareholder derivative suits, shareholder appraisal actions and post-closing transaction disputes. She has experience with a range of other complex litigation matters including, consumer class actions and product development and trade secret disputes.

“Lisa is a rising star with litigation experience across a range of industries including healthcare and financial services that are a strategic focus of the firm,” said Andy Bayman, head of the firm’s Trial and Global Disputes practice “She adds to our deep bench of trial lawyers. We are delighted to welcome her to the firm.”

Bugni is a sought after speaker and writer on securities and other corporate governance issues. She has presented at PLI’s Understanding the Securities Laws for the past three years and has published articles on topics such as executive compensation and attorney-client privilege in M&A deals. Bugni received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and her J.D. from the University of Miami. While in law school, she was an intern for Judge Stephen Brown in the Southern District of Florida.

“King & Spalding’s range of business litigation – corporate and securities, class action, tort, product liability and others – as well as the opportunity to leverage my experience across a greater range of disputes made joining the firm an enticing choice,” said Bugni. “I am excited to be here.”
