Lewis Brisbois’ Atlanta office has brought on experienced trial lawyer Daniel C. Norris as a partner in the firm’s Complex Business & Commercial Litigation Practice. Mr. Norris will also work with the firm’s Class Action & Mass Tort, Intellectual Property & Technology, and Products Liability teams. Norris was previously with the Atlanta office of Alston & Bird LLP before joining Lewis Brisbois.
Mr. Norris represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of large and complex litigation matters across the country, and he has recovered nearly $220 million for his clients in jury trials and arbitrations to date. Mr. Norris has obtained significant plaintiff’s verdicts and arbitration awards, including the recovery of $90 million for a textile manufacturer on a breach of warranty claim against a component supplier, which was ranked by the National Law Journal as the 28th largest jury verdict of any kind in the United States in 2014.
Mr. Norris has also successfully handled a variety of significant defense cases, including representing Toyota in the Toyota Unintended Acceleration Multi-District Litigation (MDL) in California, one of the largest MDLs in U.S. history, as well as representing Mazda in a nationwide MDL following widely publicized recalls relating to allegedly defective Takata airbags. He has broad experience representing manufacturers in many types of disputes, and he has handled cases involving complex technologies, systems, and products with experts from many different fields.
“We’re happy to have Daniel on the team,” said Atlanta Managing Partner R. Scott Masterson, who is also co-chair of the firm’s Toxic Tort & Environmental Litigation Practice. “Our commercial litigation practice has been growing steadily in recent years, particularly in our Southeastern offices, and Daniel’s experience with high-exposure cases will be a great asset to the team.”
“Lewis Brisbois’ combination of a national platform and favorable rate flexibility will allow me to pursue the type of work I’m interested in with a wide range of clients,” Mr. Norris said, explaining what drew him to the firm.
“I had also previously worked with [Los Angeles Partner] Eric Kizirian on the massive Takata airbag MDL,” Mr. Norris added, “so I knew the outstanding caliber of the firm’s attorneys well before joining,”
Mr. Norris is also skilled in trade secrets, products liability, real estate, insurance, and class action litigation, among others. He has extensive experience in both state and federal courts, and in alternative dispute resolution venues. A graduate of the Florida State University College of Law, he is admitted to practice law in Georgia.
