Waller, a nationally recognized law firm with offices in Austin, today announced that healthcare attorney Amanda K. Jester has joined its Austin office as partner. Formerly a partner at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, in Miami, Fla., Jester focuses her practice on advising and representing a vast range of healthcare clients including private equity funds, physician practices, hospital and health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care centers and pain management clinics.
Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Jester specializes in advising private equity funds on the regulatory issues involved in investing in healthcare companies, as well as managing all aspects of physician practice sales and acquisitions. In 2013, she received national and regional recognition for her work. She was named an ‘up and coming’ healthcare lawyer in the Chambers USA 2013 guide, an annual publication that ranks the leading firms and lawyers in an extensive range of practice areas. Jester was also recognized as a 2013 Florida Rising Star by Super Lawyers.
“We are excited to have Amanda join our team as partner,” said John Tishler, chairman of Waller. “Amanda has a deep understanding of the unique business and regulatory issues that drive healthcare transactions, and she has been honored nationally for this expertise. She will be invaluable to our team and our Austin office as we continue to expand our presence in Texas.”
Prior to joining McDermott Will & Emery, LLP, Jester served as an associate at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, in Washington, D.C. Jester earned her J.D. from University of Chicago Law School and her B.A. in philosophy from Austin College. She is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.
