Ogletree Deakins Bolsters Immigration Practice, Adds Shareholder Jacquelyn Maroney

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Jacquelyn (Jacky) Maroney as a shareholder in its Austin office. Maroney joins Ogletree Deakins from Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P., where she led the immigration practice in the firm’s Austin office.

“Jacky is a seasoned attorney with exceptional experience practicing in complex immigration matters,” said Bruce Griggs, managing shareholder of the Austin office of Ogletree Deakins. “Her arrival is a strong signal of the value we bring to employers, particularly in Austin and throughout Texas. This is an exciting opportunity for our office and for employers in Austin’s technology industry who are grappling with immigration-related legal issues on several fronts, including the implementation of immigration reform during President Obama’s second term.”

Maroney focuses her practice on a full range of business immigration matters for employers in various industries, including software, information technology, semiconductor, biotechnology, health care, oil and gas, banking, and manufacturing. She has extensive knowledge and experience in assisting employers in developing and executing domestic and global immigration programs, obtaining H-1B specialty occupation and O-1 extraordinary ability nonimmigrant visas for foreign nationals, transferring foreign personnel to startup and established U.S. offices (L-1), securing work-authorized classifications for professionals seeking to enter the U.S. pursuant to NAFTA (TN), and securing treaty trader/investor status for clients in Europe, Asia, and the Americas (E-1/E-2). In addition, Maroney represents foreign nationals in the adjustment of status to lawful permanent residence and counsels foreign nationals seeking consular processing of employment-based visas abroad.

Maroney frequently serves as a speaker on immigration topics for client seminars and professional organizations, including the Austin Human Resources Association and the Texas Association of Business. She also provides training and guidance to human resource professionals, hiring managers, and in-house legal departments.

Maroney earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and her B.A., cum laude, from Furman University. She is a member of several local professional organizations including the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Austin Young Lawyers Association, and Austin Human Resources Association.
