National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Brenda Barrett has joined the firm as a partner in the Austin office and as a member of its Energy & Natural Resources industry group. Barrett arrives at the firm from Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, PLC.
Barrett represents clients operating in the energy sector, including both public utilities and sponsors of new generation resources in corporate finance matters, project finance, general corporate governance issues, and the development, acquisition, and operation of renewable energy projects.
“Brenda is a talented attorney who adds significant depth to our corporate bench in a key energy market,” said Partner Anna Kimbrell, leader of Husch Blackwell’s Energy & Natural Resources industry group. “Her extensive experience will benefit our clients and will complement our existing national practice.”
In addition to her work in the energy sector, Barrett also brings two decades of experience with credit unions and routinely represents these organizations in transactions and regulatory matters. She works especially often with her credit union clients on strategic mergers with other credit unions, and she negotiates contracts, advises on corporate governance questions, and represents the credit union before both state and federal regulators throughout the transaction.
“Husch Blackwell’s full-service capabilities combined with the deep bench and industry alignment made it the perfect firm for my practice,” Barrett said. “The firm’s culture, commitment to diversity, and work-from-anywhere model were also very attractive; and I’m eager to join my new colleagues.”
