Hopkins serves health care clients as an advocate and advisor in administrative law, regulatory defense, compliance, and litigation. He advises both individual health care providers and institutional health care clients on state licensure, federal certifications, compliance, and enforcement matters, emphasizing proactive legal services aimed at maintaining compliance and minimizing potential legal exposure. Hopkins handles all aspects of health care professional and facility licensure, regulation, enforcement; medical staff and credentialing issues, fraud and abuse; and compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies’ rules.
Spencer Fane opened its office in Austin last March.

In addition to his legal work, Hopkins is a prolific speaker and has been actively involved in the American Bar Association Health Law Section as well as American Health Law Association and has served in a number of leadership roles in both organizations. In Texas, he is actively involved in both the Houston Bar and Austin Bar Health Law Sections. He completed his undergraduate studies at High Point University and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.
