Global law firm Shearman & Sterling today announces the appointment of Saul Perloff as a Litigation partner, based in Austin, Texas. Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling, Saul was a partner in the Intellectual Property Group and the head of the advertising practice at Norton Rose Fulbright.
Saul is an experienced trial lawyer, successfully prosecuting and defending disputes involving false advertising, unfair competition and other complex commercial matters. He has wide-ranging experience counseling pharmaceutical, food, device, consumer product, biotechnology and other clients on advertising and labeling compliance as well as brand protection strategies. Saul has represented clients in government investigations, arbitrations and National Advertising Division proceedings. Earlier in his career he served as a JAG officer and member of the Chief Counsel’s Honor Program in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
“Saul’s addition demonstrates our continued commitment to the Texas market and strengthens our U.S. commercial disputes and intellectual property offering.” said David Beveridge, Senior Partner at Shearman & Sterling. “His appointment is part of the continued execution of the firm’s strategy to build our core practice areas in key geographies, strengthening our business mix.”
Commenting on Saul’s appointment, Adam Hakki, Global Managing Partner and Global Head of Disputes added: “We are delighted to welcome Saul to the firm. He will be a major asset and part of our strategy to continue to grow our litigation capabilities in the U.S. and globally. Saul’s extensive experience enhances our existing litigation offering and bolsters our ability to provide clients with a coordinated and integrated approach to navigate complex commercial disputes.”
Saul Perloff added, “I am excited to be joining the Litigation practice group at Shearman & Sterling and to be a part of the firm’s expansion in Texas. The Litigation practice is made up of an exceptional team of practitioners and I am looking forward to working with them, as well as the firm’s transactional partners in Texas and worldwide. With my new colleagues and Sherman & Sterling’s platform I hope to help clients navigate the courtroom and their daily business in this complex and evolving landscape.”
Shearman & Sterling has continued to expand core practice areas with 16 lateral hires globally since January. Saul’s hire follows the return of Ryan Shores to the firm as an Antitrust and Litigation partner after serving at the Department of Justice, and the appointments of Emily Leitch (Capital Markets) and Daniel Tristan (Finance) in Houston.
