Global law firm Shearman & Sterling today announces the appointment of Emily Westridge Black as a Litigation partner in Austin. Black joins Shearman from Haynes & Boone LLP.
An accomplished litigation and investigations partner, Emily maintains a broad national litigation and investigations practice that focuses on complex commercial litigation, government and internal investigations, and regulatory issues. She has significant experience on varied substantive matters, including products liability, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), cybersecurity, public safety concerns and corporate governance.

Emily is the fifth lateral partner hire for Shearman & Sterling’s Texas litigation team in less than a year, which includes Sam Cooper in Houston, Dan Gold and Thad Behrens in Dallas and Saul Perloff in Austin. Since the beginning of 2021, the firm has also added partners Matthew Skinner in London and Ryan Shores in Washington, D.C. to its global disputes offering. Emily’s appointment brings the total number of Shearman & Sterling’s global lateral partner hires to 30 since January 2021.
