Barbara Harding has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. She joins as a partner from Jones Day, where she was also a partner.
She is a trial lawyer, former federal prosecutor, and legal strategist. Her practice focuses on complex, multi-jurisdictional, class action and mass tort litigation, as well as commercial and business disputes, for major U.S. and international corporations in the chemical, energy, life sciences, manufacturing, and technology industries. Barbara represents companies and individuals in all forums, including federal and state courts, bankruptcy court and in criminal matters.

In addition to her national litigation practice, Barbara counsel’s corporations on risk mitigation, risk preparedness and crisis response. She responds on site to transportation, energy, and manufacturing crisis events, assisting companies with all legal aspects of response, including internal and government investigations, evidence preservation and liability defense strategy.
Barbara served as Deputy Director of the Treasury Department’s White House Security Review. At DOJ, she was responsible for the first federal prosecution of crimes involving violence toward Muslims. She maintains an active pro bono practice, representing individuals and groups targeted by extremist hate groups. Barbara was an All-American gymnast at the University of Alabama, the first woman to receive the Distinguished Paul W. Bryant Alumni Athlete award and was featured in the SEC’s 75th Anniversary “Stories of Character” ad campaign.
