Miles & Stockbridge P.C. is pleased to announce that Brian L. Moffet recently joined the law firm as a principal in its Commercial & Business Litigation Practice Group.
“We are very pleased to have Brian on board,” said John B. Frisch, chairman and chief executive officer of Miles & Stockbridge. “He is a well-respected former colleague to several of our lawyers, and his deep trial and financial services experience is well matched to our firm’s representation of clients.”
Moffet’s practice focuses on mortgage-related litigation, including foreclosures and mortgage servicing, lender-liability claims, arbitration, commercial law, and class action defense. He represents financial institutions – from national banks to mortgage lenders and other financial services providers – in federal and state consumer financial services class action litigation and in arbitrations. He has handled a wide variety of lender liability claims arising under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedure Act (RESPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), state unfair and deceptive acts and trade practices laws (UDAP), and other federal and state consumer lending statutes and regulations.
Moffet is the former chair of Gordon Feinblatt’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group and a former member of the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group. He earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware.
