Rita Piel has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s mergers and acquisitions team in Baltimore as a partner from Rifkin Weiner Livingston LLC where she served as a partner in the Business and Commercial Transactions and Sports Law, Gaming and Facilities practice areas.
With over a decade of outside general counsel experience, Piel assists clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies in all areas of business and technology law, as well as providing strategic counseling to government contractors.

Piel regularly works on mergers, acquisitions, recapitalization, business formation, contract drafting and negotiation, stockholder and member agreements, financing and investment documents and real estate matters. She serves as the lead attorney in structuring and executing M&A transactions, including stock and asset deals, closing over 100 transactions ranging in value from under $1 million to $3.5 billion.

She earned her BA from Duke University in Political Science (major) and Markets & Management (certificate), and she received her JD from the University of Maryland School of Law.
