Baker McKenzie Strengthens Barcelona Office with Partner and Counsel Hires

The Barcelona office of Baker McKenzie, leading global law firm, today announced the hires of Joaquín Fabré as a new partner in Banking & Finance and Gemma Piqué as counsel for Employment, strengthening its position as the leading international law firm in Barcelona and adding expertise to help clients navigate unprecedented financial and workforce challenges. Joaquín Fabré joins the Firm in Barcelona as a Banking & Finance partner from Latham & Watkins, while Gemma Piqué joins the Employment practice as counsel from Deloitte.

Joaquin Fabré has extensive experience advising on national and cross-border financial transactions, including corporate transactions, acquisitions, leveraged finance, real estate transactions and refinancing operations. He joins from Latham & Watkins.

The new partner has extensive experience advising on complex national and cross-border financial operations, including sometimes foreign syndicated financing operations, alternative financing products, and designing and executing restructuring strategies. For the past five years, he has performed his job at Latham & Watkins and has extensive professional experience at other international law firms.

Graduated in Law and Master in International Legal Studies from the American University, Washington College of Law, Joaquín regularly advises banks and other financial institutions, as well as corporate borrowers and issuers in a wide range of financial operations.

In addition to Joaquín, Gemma Piqué joins as counsel of Employment from Deloitte, where she worked as Principal Senior Manager of the practice in Barcelona. Graduated in Law from ESADE and with a Masters in Labor Law and Social Security from the same institution, Gemma has extensive national and international experience advising companies in the public and private sector on employment matters (recruitment, disciplinary procedures, geographic and functional mobility, modifications of working conditions), transactions, due diligence and business restructuring.
