Proskauer Expands Private Investment Funds Practice in Asia with Addition of Yong Ren in Beijing

Global law firm Proskauer announced today that Yong Ren has joined the firm’s global Private Investment Funds group as a partner, resident in the Beijing office. Mr. Ren’s extensive private equity fund formation experience, representing both general and limited partners throughout Asia, will further expand the reach of Proskauer’s preeminent private investment funds practice and presence in Asia.

Mr. Ren represents clients in all aspects of private investment funds from formation to management and compliance. He joins Proskauer from Mayer Brown LLP where his practice focused on representing private equity, hedge funds, funds of funds, venture capital, distressed opportunities, mezzanine, and real estate firms in the United States, Asia and Europe. He also advises China-based general partners on the establishment of dollar-denominated offshore funds and RMB-denominated funds and counsels on related regulatory matters that affect the day-to-day operation of the funds in China as well as on downstream investments.

Proskauer’s Beijing and Hong Kong offices handle all types of corporate matters, including mergers & acquisitions, fund structuring and management, private equity and venture capital transactions, private equity real estate, capital markets, foreign direct investments and joint ventures. The team is comprised of practitioners with extensive and in-depth understanding of the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong and their interaction with laws of other jurisdictions. These capabilities are critical for advising on the cross-border transactions of the firm’s clients in the region.

Prior to Mayer Brown, Mr. Ren was a lawyer in the New York offices of Simpson Thacher and Ropes & Gray. He received a JD from Yale Law School and a BA and MA in English from Nankai University in Tianjin, China. He is fluent in Mandarin and English and admitted to practice law in New York.
