International law firm Simmons & Simmons is advising Sino-Italian private equity group, Mandarin Capital Partners (Mandarin) in Milan and Beijing, on its joint venture with Chinese rating agency Dagong.

International law firm Dechert has brought aboard a new partner to fill one of its Asia legal jobs, according to a press release.
Paul Weidong Wang will fill the position of corporate partner. Corporate practice chair Henry Nassau praised his “caliber … and … quality”, one of several members of the firm to heap accolades on the new hire.

International law firm Dechert LLP announced today that Paul Weidong Wang has joined the firm’s corporate practice as a partner in Beijing. Paul Wang was most recently a partner at DeHeng Law Offices and previously worked as associate for Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago.

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised a consortium of investors including Credit Suisse, New World, Baosteel and CCB International on their US$151 million investment in ChongHou Energy Resources Limited, the holding company of Qipanjing Mining Company Limited which owns and operates a number of coking coal mines in Inner Mongolia. Coking coal is used in the production of steel and is in high demand in China.

The Firm recently represented Bona Film Group Limited (NASDAQ: BONA) and its chairman, Mr. Dong Yu, in connection with Mr. Yu’s sale of a 19.9% strategic equity stake to News Corporation (NASDAQ: NWSA). News Corporation will acquire the stake directly from Mr. Yu. Mr. Yu has also entered into separate agreements to acquire existing 1,000,000 Bona ordinary shares from SIG China Investments One, Ltd., 1,000,000 Bona ordinary shares from Matrix Partners China Funds and 1,500,000 Bona ordinary shares from the Sequoia Funds.
