Perkins Coie Grows Global IP Practice with Addition of IP Partner in Beijing

Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Johnny Chiu has joined the firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property (IP) practice. Johnny will be based in Perkins Coie’s Beijing office.

“Johnny is widely recognized and highly regarded for his representation of leading Asia technology companies in complex intellectual property litigation and counseling matters,” said Jonathan James, Co-Chair of the firm’s IP practice. “His deep experience in advising Asian technology companies complement Perkins Coie’s preeminent tech practice and expanding Asia IP practice. Johnny represents Asia clients in U.S. patent disputes and other litigation matters and has extensive experience in matters before the International Trade Commission and before U.S. federal and state courts. He also advises Asia-based companies on creating and operating U.S. subsidiaries or affiliates and on U.S. regulatory and compliance matters.

Johnny has been recognized by Chambers Global 2014 – 2015 in the area of China: Intellectual Property – USA (Foreign Expert) and by Chambers Global 2012 for China: Intellectual Property (Experts Based Abroad) and USA: Intellectual Property (Foreign Experts). Johnny earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School; he received his LL.M. from American University Washington College of Law and his LL.B. from Fu Jen Catholic University. Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Johnny was a partner with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.
