Squire Patton Boggs has strengthened the leadership of its German Real Estate Practice with the appointment of Dr. Matthias Werner, who joins the firm as a director from Poellath in Berlin.
Dr. Werner has over 20 years’ experience in real estate law. He advises on large-scale real estate transactions, with expertise in asset management, commercial tenancy law and residential property law. Dr. Werner will lead the firm’s asset deal-based transactional services and asset management business in Germany alongside the real estate corporate transactions business led by Dr. Kai Mertens.
Berlin partner Dr. Kai Mertens said: “We are confident that client demand for our real estate services in Germany will continue to increase with markets recouping in the coming year. With Matthias’ depth of experience and successful track record across asset deal real estate transactions and management, he will be a great addition to our practice.”
“A strong real estate capability in Germany is important for the continued development of our services across Europe,” commented European head of the firm’s Real Estate Practice, Matthew Dalzell. “Matthias brings excellent skills and experience that complement our team in Germany and beyond, and we are pleased to welcome him to the firm.”
Dr. Werner is a graduate in law from the Freie Universität Berlin and was admitted to the bar in 2008. He is a lecturer and examiner for the Berlin Court of Appeal and the Legal Examination Office.
“I am excited to be joining Squire Patton Boggs,” said Dr. Werner. “I am looking forward to working as a member of the firm’s first-rate Real Estate team in Germany, and to be part of a global practice with ambitions for the continued expansion of its capability in Europe.”
