Jones Day Adds Energy Partner Elise Zoli to Boston Office

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Elise Zoli has joined the Firm in Boston as a partner in its international Energy Practice.

Ms. Zoli provides comprehensive national and global strategic direction on behalf of leading clean energy and water companies and their investors. She has particular experience in first-in-kind M&A or strategic investment in the nuclear, solar, transportation electrification (fuel cell and battery), storage, micro- and smart-grid, and wind sectors. As an advisor to energy clients on regulatory matters and related litigation, Ms. Zoli has addressed the resource considerations relevant to the existing and emergent clean energy sectors. Chambers & Partners has called Ms. Zoli “the leading energy attorney in the state,” and she has been continuously listed as a leading energy lawyer by that publication since 2007.

A prominent lawyer in the nuclear sector, Ms. Zoli’s experience includes a variety of transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters addressing the use and release of radioisotopes, as well as the operation, decommissioning and re-use of nuclear power plants, former defense sites, biotech, and industrial facilities that employ radioisotopes.

“Elise has tremendous experience in clean energy transactions across a broad array of technologies and funding sources, as well as an expansive knowledge of the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape that is critical to client success in this area,” said Jeff Schlegel, who leads Jones Day’s Energy Practice. “She will be a great addition to our very strong energy team and bring even more capabilities as our clients continue to pursue clean energy and renewable alternatives.”

Added Traci Lovitt, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s Boston Office, “Elise will provide our clients with exceptional insights into a wide range of transactional, financial, and regulatory considerations related to the clean energy sector. As one of the most respected energy lawyers in the region, her contributions will be invaluable to our clients worldwide that are operating in an increasingly challenging litigation and regulatory environment.”

A member of the New York and Massachusetts bars, Ms. Zoli has been recognized by Chambers USA, The Legal 500, and other industry publications for her work. A periodic lecturer at MIT’s Sloan School, Ms. Zoli is a member of the California and New York Academies of Science, as well as of the American Nuclear and American Chemical Societies.
