Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Julia B. Jacobson as a partner in the firm’s Boston office. She joins K&L Gates from Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
Jacobson regularly advises clients on a range of data privacy and protection and advertising, marketing, and promotions matters. Jacobson counsels businesses in nearly every sector, with a particular focus on consumer products, e-commerce, technology start-ups, and not-for-profit organizations.
Jacobson’s data privacy practice includes the design of policies to promote effective and efficient data privacy, data monetization, data transfer, data security, and breach response. She also develops compliance programs to assist clients in navigating the myriad laws, regulations, and industry standards that govern advertising and marketing. She negotiates trademark and technology licenses and co-branding, media, sponsorship, and other related commercial contracts.
“We are delighted to welcome Julia to our firm,” said Mark Haddad, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Boston office. “In today’s business world, our clients regularly are confronted with or exposed to both domestic and international issues involving data privacy and protection. Julia’s near-decade of working exclusively in this area and being a thought leader at the forefront of this developing field of law will be of great importance and benefit to our global clients. Her addition to our team will fortify and enhance our ever-growing data privacy and protection group.”
Jacobson is the second new partner to join K&L Gates’ Boston office in the past two months, following the September arrival of government enforcement partner Christopher Nasson.
