Womble Bond Dickinson is pleased to announce that Jed M. Nosal has joined the firm as a partner in the Business Litigation Group. Nosal is the second litigation partner to join the Boston office in as many months. His arrival comes on the heels of former Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, who joined the firm from Greenberg Traurig. Nosal joins the firm from Brown Rudnick, where he served as co-leader of the Energy, Regulatory and Environmental Practice Group.
“Jed is a fantastic addition to the firm’s Business Litigation Practice and, along with Angel, an important step in our strategic growth strategy in New England,” said Boston Managing Partner Sarah Keefe. “We will benefit from his experience as one of the foremost regulatory, licensure, and government relations practitioners in the state and are excited to welcome him to Womble Bond Dickinson.”
Nosal is also highly regarded for his deep understanding of government oversight and investigations. His practice focuses primarily on state regulatory oversight, investigations, compliance, and related litigation for a diverse set of clients in the energy, gaming, technology, and transportation industries.
With almost two decades of experience in senior regulatory and enforcement roles, Nosal deeply understands government oversight and investigations. Before private practice, Nosal served as General Counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities; Deputy Legal Counsel to Governor Jane Swift; Deputy Director and Chief of Staff at the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation; Counsel to the state and Boston police departments; and as an Assistant Attorney General and Chief of the Business and Labor Bureau in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.
“The Boston business community has evolved tremendously over the last decade, as has the Commonwealth’s interest to regulate it, and it needs a law firm built to keep up,” Nosal said. “Womble clearly understands that and has positioned itself at the crossroads of innovation and regulation with a diverse and experienced group of attorneys committed to client success. It’s exciting to join Angel and help build out our regulatory and litigation team here in Boston.”
