Dentons is pleased to announce that James O’Sullivan and Rick Skeith have joined the Firm in our Calgary office as partners in our Corporate group.
James’ current focus is on providing corporate and commercial advice to junior private and public issuers, including capital pool companies, micro-cap, start-up and growth companies active in the energy, mining, healthcare and technology sectors. Rick’s practice concentrates on securities and corporate finance matters for various public companies and underwriters.

In addition to providing corporate and commercial advice, James has been actively involved in the cannabis sector, including leading the development of several key industry-level precedent agreements and advising companies with respect to their ongoing regulatory matters, initial public offerings and acquisitions.
Rick has also held officer and board member positions at numerous companies in different sectors, including oil and gas, real estate, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and medical research.
James earned his Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology, from the University of Calgary in 2000 and obtained his Bachelor of Laws from Western University in 2006. He was called to the Alberta bar in 2007. He also currently serves as Corporate Secretary for several Canadian public companies.
While attending the University of Alberta, Rick earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1975 and attained his Bachelor of Laws in 1978. He was called to the Alberta bar in 1979.
