Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Terra L. Reynolds has joined the firm’s Chicago office as a partner in the Litigation & Trial Department, in the White Collar Defense & Investigations Practice. A former federal prosecutor, Reynolds’ practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, internal and government investigations, and complex litigation for clients in the healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceutical industries. Reynolds joins Latham & Watkins from Paul Hastings in Chicago.

Reynolds has represented multinational pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies and domestic healthcare companies in investigations before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, including matters involving the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Food Drug Cosmetic Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She also has experience representing individuals and companies before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Internal Revenue Service and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Prior to entering private practice, Reynolds served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois from 2003 to 2014, most recently as a Deputy Chief in the General Crimes Unit. While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, she was responsible for a broad range of investigations and prosecutions, having tried more than a dozen federal criminal cases and led numerous complex investigations involving a diverse array of subject matters, including racketeering, health care fraud, corporate fraud, securities fraud, tax fraud and multi-national narcotics trafficking conspiracies. She also has briefed and argued many matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

The addition of Reynolds continues the firm’s momentum of growing its Litigation & Trial Department. The White Collar Defense & Investigations Practice in June added former Deputy Counsel to President Barack Obama in the White House Counsel’s Office, Nicholas McQuaid, and announced that Leslie Caldwell, the former Assistant Attorney General for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, will join the practice in September.
Reynolds earned her BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and her JD, cum laude, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 2002. After law school, from 2002-2003, Reynolds clerked for Judge Marvin E. Aspen of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Reynolds currently teaches trial advocacy at the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law as an adjunct professor and serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Legal Clinic.
