Holland & Knight has strengthened its nationally recognized Real Estate Capital Markets Group with the addition of Cara Houck, a partner in the Chicago office. Ms. Houck focuses her practice on litigation and commercial real estate foreclosure workouts. She was most recently a principal with Miller Canfield and began her career as an associate at McGuireWoods.
“Cara’s extensive experience in handling real estate litigation will greatly expand our capabilities in Illinois and across the Midwest,” said Joe Guay, Holland & Knight’s Real Estate Section leader. “She has worked with many of our attorneys over the course of her career and is a team player, which will make her an excellent cultural fit for the firm. We are thrilled to welcome her to our expanding Real Estate Capital Markets Group.”
Ms. Houck has more than 20 years of experience involving business disputes and has tried lawsuits around the country, conducted arbitrations and appeared before state and federal courts. She has a vast amount of experience handling cases involving fraudulent transfers, commercial real estate workouts and foreclosures, real estate and construction litigation, receiverships and various other types of business litigation.

Ms. Houck received her J.D. degree from Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School, her M.B.A degree from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and her B.S. degree from Northwestern University.
