The global law firm Jones Day has announced the arrival of Tax Practice partner Michael J. Wynne to the Firm’s Chicago Office. Mr. Wynne Joins Jones Day from Reed Smith, LLP.
An experienced tax litigator at the state and local levels, Mr. Wynne’s practice also includes audit and appellate work in defending False Claims Act tax matters, and state tax refund class actions. He has also advised on matters involving real property tax exemptions for health care facilities and government facility developers.

In addition to his private sector experience, Mr. Wynne previously served as general counsel to the Illinois Department of Revenue, leading its regulatory, legislative support, and adjudicative functions. He also previously served as deputy chief and acting chief in the Revenue Litigation Division, Office of the Illinois Attorney General, supervising trial and appellate counsel for the state in all tax and revenue matters.
