The Chicago office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added David D. Dueno as a partner in the private equity practice. He joins K&L Gates from international private equity firm Quantum Global Group, and previously practiced with international law firms in London, New York, and Chicago.
Dueno concentrates his practice on mergers, acquisitions, private equity, and finance in domestic and cross-border transactions in emerging markets, with a particular focus on Africa. He represents private equity funds and their portfolio companies, venture capital funds, and public and private companies across a variety of industries, including telecommunications, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, financial services, hotels and hospitality, mining, healthcare and biotech, agriculture, and forestry, on their acquisitions and dispositions, public and private financing, project financing, joint ventures, and development funding. Dueno has broad experience counseling U.S. and European clients in their dealings in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
“We’re excited to welcome David to our private equity practice and our office,” said Michael E. Martinez, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Chicago office. “David’s deep experience with cross-border transactions in emerging and frontier markets will bolster the capabilities we offer to our clients both in Chicago and around the world.”
Dueno is the fourth new partner to join K&L Gates’ Chicago office in recent months, including Carl Volz (securities and transactional litigation), George Summerfield (intellectual property), and Joseph Condo (energy and infrastructure projects and transactions), and also follows the addition of New York private equity partner James Lee earlier this year.
