Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Brian E. Spang as a partner in the labor, employment, and workplace safety practice. He joins K&L Gates’ Chicago office from Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.
Spang advises employers, from startups to Fortune 50 companies, on trade secret and restrictive covenant cases, as well as on a wide array of complex matters, including wage and hour class and collective actions, and wrongful termination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and discrimination lawsuits. He has experience litigating in federal and state courts across the country, and counseling a range of clients in the areas of insurance, banking, staffing and recruiting, digital technology, and software engineering. Spang also advises on drafting and implementing restrictive covenants, compensation incentive and commission plans, employment contracts, and related policies.
Rosemary Alito, leader of the firm’s labor, employment, and workplace safety practice area, commented: “Brian’s deep experience in labor and employment law, including the most sophisticated trade secret and non-compete issues, will enhance our client services in Chicago and across the firm. We are very excited to have Brian join us.”
Spang’s arrival follows the earlier additions of Chicago partners Jeffrey Gargano (IP litigation), Mitchell Weiss (tax), Balazs Danko (tax), and Marisa Murillo (banking and asset finance) in the past year. They are among the 105 partners and of counsel the firm has welcomed across its global platform since the beginning of 2020.
“We are thrilled to add Brian’s experience to our Chicago office and K&L Gates’ leading labor and employment practice,” said Michael E. Martinez, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Chicago office. “His practice is at the cutting-edge of the most complex employment issues faced by companies today.”
