Steven Trybus, a veteran litigator who focuses on complex patent disputes, has joined Locke Lord’s Chicago office as a Partner in the Firm’s IP Pharmaceutical Practice Group. Trybus brings to Locke Lord a wealth of litigation experience across a variety of cutting-edge technologies in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and life sciences.
Trybus is a distinguished lawyer in the defense of patents for the groundbreaking CRISPR gene-editing technology, which allows for the permanent modification of human, animal and plant genes to avoid, prevent or cure disease or undesirable traits. Trybus has also handled matters involving pharmaceuticals and medical devices; the chemical arts, such as polymers; electronics, including software and telecommunications; and mechanical devices, such as food processing equipment.

Trybus, who joins Locke Lord from Jenner & Block, has more than 30 years of experience handling a wide range of patent infringement cases for both patent owners and accused infringers. He concentrates on patent litigation and related counseling with significant experience in contested proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His practice includes interferences, inter partes reviews, post grant reviews and appeals.
