Nathaniel Marrs Joins DLA Piper’s Finance Practice in Chicago

DLA Piper announced today that Nathaniel Marrs has joined the firm’s Finance practice as a partner in the Chicago office.

Marrs represents domestic and international real estate fund sponsors and other real estate owners and operators in a variety of corporate transactions, including the formation and structuring of private equity real estate funds and management companies, joint ventures and operating companies. His transactional experience includes real estate portfolio and single-asset acquisitions and dispositions, multi-jurisdictional REIT mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments in real estate investment managers and other real estate companies.

Marrs has worked with various property types, including retail, industrial, office, multi-family, hotels and casinos. He has also advised clients on a range of investment strategies, including commercial mortgage-backed securities, senior and subordinate financing, and preferred and common-equity investments. His practice has a significant cross-border element, with non-US clients focused on real estate investment opportunities throughout the United States, and US clients focused on real estate investment opportunities throughout Asia, India, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Marrs joins DLA Piper from Lathan & Watkins, where he was a partner in Latham’s Fund Formation practice. An active member of the professional real estate community in Chicago, he is an advisory board member of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Real Estate Alumni Group and a member of the Pension Real Estate Association.

Marrs earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan, his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Michigan.
