Nixon Peabody’s expansion continues to build momentum with the arrival of Gregg Dorman as partner in the firm’s Real Estate team in Chicago. Dorman comes to the firm from Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
“Gregg is a preeminent real estate lawyer who partners with his clients to provide strategic advice addressing their most crucial real estate needs and fueling their growth,” said David R. Brown, Nixon Peabody’s Chicago office managing partner. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to our Chicago office and NP’s Real Estate group.”
Gregg has more than 35 years of experience representing clients—in the U.S. and abroad—on all aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, exchange, financing, development, leasing, construction, management, and operation of all types of real estate assets and interests. His clients include global corporations, international retailers, real estate investors and developers, health care facilities, restaurant operators, and professional sports franchises.
Gregg also has extensive experience representing national and international retailers in shopping center-related acquisition, development, leasing, disposition, and portfolio management transactions for standalone sites or in larger shopping centers, mixed-use or multi-use buildings, and enclosed malls. He has past experience working in-house with a real estate development company, where he managed and navigated deals from the purchase of raw land through project design, leasing, financing, construction, management, operation, and ultimate sale.
“Gregg has excellent in-house experience, which reflects in his work ethic as a real estate lawyer—taking ownership of every deal, sweating every detail, and treating his clients’ matters as if they were his own,” said Denise Pursley, leader of Nixon Peabody’s national Affordable Housing & Real Estate practice group. “We’re excited to introduce Gregg to our clients and see his practice grow with our national platform.”
“I look forward to helping further expand Nixon Peabody’s deep national real estate development and leasing bench and experience, in addition to building national teams for several rapidly expanding clients,” said Gregg.
Gregg attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law and earned a B.A. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Earlier this year, partners Jim Mayer and Mike Kuppersmith, who focus their practices on commercial leasing, and associate Emily Schwebke joined the firm’s Real Estate group in Chicago.
