Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Kevin Kolton has joined the firm’s Construction and Real Estate Litigation practices as a Partner in the Chicago office. Kevin joins the firm from Schiff Hardin where he was a partner and formerly the deputy practice leader of Schiff’s construction practice.
Kevin represents energy companies, commercial project owners and other industry participants on a wide array of energy and construction-related matters, including transactions and disputes, and which also span the renewable and wind sector. His work includes drafting, negotiating, and helping to administer contracts, and resolving construction-related disputes. Kevin assists clients through all phases of a construction project, including procurement, contract administration and project closeout and he works closely with integral vendors and technology platforms.
“Kevin’s strong technical background gives him a unique understanding of the construction process and helps him to effectively and efficiently structure and manage risk, and provide counsel to creatively resolve disputes,” said Andrew Greene, Chair of Perkins Coie’s Construction practice. “Kevin’s litigation and transactional practice, along with his deep experience working on large energy and commercial projects, will strengthen the counsel we can offer to our construction and energy clients.”
Kevin’s addition to the Chicago office follows the arrival of Insurance Recovery Partner Jim Davis to the office in May. To accommodate Perkins Coie’s continued growth in the Chicago area, the firm will move to a larger, more collaborative office space at 110 N. Wacker Drive in 2021.
“We jumped at the opportunity to add Kevin to our growing Chicago office,” said Rick Sevcik, Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s Chicago office. “Kevin’s construction practice will help further strengthen our litigation practice and support our real estate group, and we are thrilled to have him join the Perkins Coie team.”
Kevin has been consistently recognized for his excellence in construction law, including being listed in Best Lawyers in America, and is a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America and a member of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys.
