Am Law 100 firm, Polsinelli, welcomes Edward J. Hannon to its Tax Practice in Chicago. Edward J. Hannon joins the firm as a shareholder and will provide counsel to clients on the development of tax savings structures for the acquisition and disposition of privately-held businesses. Ed also advises clients on the use of tax-oriented structures in real estate transactions and has represented developers in connection with the pursuit and completion of opportunity zone-related projects.

Hannon represents real estate owners and investors in the use of tax-oriented structures related to governance, entity formation and dissolution of issues. He frequently advises investors in opportunities to minimize U.S. tax costs related to real estate investments and transactions. He also has an in-depth understanding of regulations, including Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code and Delaware statutory trust and common structure.
Drawing from more than 25 years of experience, Hannon drafts and negotiates tax provisions included in stock purchase agreements, merger agreements and tax sharing agreements for U.S. – based businesses. He also specializes in representing strategic buyers and private equity firms in acquisitions and dispositions ranging in value from $30 million to $500 million.

Hannon graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and received his B.S. from Saint Louis University Hannon is also a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds an LLM in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center.
