The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced the expansion of its Data Privacy & Security practice with the addition of three new attorneys. Hilary Lane (partner), previously the Chief Privacy Officer for NBCUniversal joins the firm’s Tampa office, and Greg Leighton (partner) and Bari Nathan (associate) join the Chicago office. Leighton and Nathan join from Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, respectively.

Lane was the Chief Privacy Officer for NBCUniversal, where she built, implemented and led its global privacy program across diverse operating units. She takes a strategic and practical approach, working closely with clients to design and implement global data privacy and security programs tailored to their businesses. She advises on U.S. state and federal privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as well as global data protection laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Lane also helps clients develop and execute incident response plans, leads responses to data breaches and security incidents, and counsels on breach notification and remediation. She holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, a Master of Science from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts from State University of New York at Albany. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
Leighton is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US and CIPP/E) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and a Privacy Law Specialist as recognized by the American Bar Association (ABA) and IAPP. He counsels domestic and international clients on privacy policies, data processing security, the movement of data across international borders and building successful information governance programs. Leighton also guides clients in maximizing data privacy and security while minimizing risks and costs through the development of effective data governance programs and policies, and data breach response plans. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University.
Nathan advises clients on compliance with state, federal and international data privacy and security issues, including those relating to Internet terms and conditions, privacy policies, data breach response and compliance with the CCPA and GDPR. She holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University.
