DLA Piper announced today that R. Matthew Hiller has joined the firm’s Litigation practice as a partner in Chicago. Hiller joins DLA Piper from the US Attorney’s Office, where he served as an Assistant US Attorney in Kansas City, Missouri, and in Chicago.
As a member of the National Security and Cybercrimes Section of the US Attorney’s Office, Hiller’s responsibilities included leading criminal and national security investigations, trying cases in federal court, and consulting for the FBI and Department of Justice across the US with respect to cyber investigative techniques.
“As a former federal prosecutor with significant first-chair trial and appellate experience, Matt enhances our global litigation platform and capabilities in several key areas,” said Loren Brown, co-chair of DLA Piper’s global and US Litigation practices. “In particular, he has become a recognized leader in cyber fraud, cyber investigative techniques and the prosecution of theft of trade secret cases, which will bolster our Cybersecurity practice.”
Hiller previously served as an associate at DLA Piper, where he worked on a range of high-profile litigation and investigation matters.
“Matt is a talented lawyer with a stellar reputation in the legal community, and his prosecutorial and investigatory experience will be an asset as we continue to strategically grow our capabilities here in Chicago,” said Richard Chesley, co-managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office. “We are thrilled to welcome him back to the firm.”
Hiller received his J.D. from the University of Illinois and his B.A. from the University of Missouri.
