Scott Kapp joins DLA Piper’s Real Estate Practice in Chicago

DLA Piper announced today that Scott Kapp has joined the firm’s Real Estate practice as a partner in Chicago. Kapp joins DLA Piper from Dentons US LLP.

Kapp represents family offices, entrepreneurial clients and a diversified group of private companies at various stages of development, including private equity and venture-backed companies. He provides strategic advice on both legal and business issues, including capital and deal structure, litigation and transaction strategy, and strategic planning. In addition, he regularly advises clients in a variety of areas within the real estate industry, including in the acquisition, disposition, management, construction, development and leasing of office, industrial, multi-family and retail properties.

“Scott’s broad experience representing a wide range of clients in an array of areas will be an important addition to our global and national platform,” said Richard Chesley, co-managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office.

“Scott’s diverse skillset and in-depth understanding of the transactional and finance spaces of real estate will be an important complement to our practice, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the firm,” said John Sullivan, chair of DLA Piper’s US Real Estate practice.

He earned his J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, his M.B.A from the University of Chicago and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
