Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani welcomes Timothy R. Herman as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office. Herman joins the firm’s Commercial Litigation, Class Action and Employment Law practice groups. Herman joins the firm from Clark Hill PLC in Chicago.
Herman is an experienced litigator and focuses his practice on business litigation and employment disputes. He has successfully tried multiple cases, including a two-week federal jury trial, defended and prosecuted temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction hearings, and has significant experience in all aspects of litigation including mediation and arbitration through the American Arbitration Association, at trial and on appeal. His litigation practice covers such diverse areas as shareholder disputes, non-competition and non-solicitation disputes, class action litigation, complex supplier disputes, equipment leasing matters, real estate litigation, legal malpractice actions, product liability defense and mechanic’s lien actions. He also represents corporate creditors protecting their rights in bankruptcy proceedings.
He has experience representing corporate and individual fiduciaries in matters involving claims of undue influence, lack of capacity, fraud, and duress and other disputes between beneficiaries of wills and trusts. Mr. Herman also has significant experience in post-judgment proceedings, including litigating fraudulent transfers and citations to discover assets. Herman also has experience in transactional matters, including analyzing and drafting employment and corporate maintenance agreements, contracts and assisting in corporate formation for small to medium-sized businesses and other start-up companies. He utilizes his litigation background to develop strategies to prevent litigation from occurring.

He has defended technology companies and other businesses sued under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act and other privacy-related cases. He has also defended companies in patent litigation and trademark disputes.
Herman is admitted in Illinois and in the following U.S. District Courts: Central District of Illinois, Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar, Eastern District of Wisconsin, Northern District of Illinois.
He has been recognized by Illinois Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in Business Litigation from 2016-2020. Herman is a member of the Chicago Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Committee and was part of the CBA’s 2016 inaugural Leadership Institute composed of 18 lawyers from various law firms and corporate legal departments in the Chicago area.
He graduated as the valedictorian of his class at The John Marshall Law School in 2010 and earned his undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College in 2006.
