Tim Callahan, an accomplished project development and finance lawyer who has closed more than 100 renewable energy project deals in his nearly 30-year career, has joined McGuireWoods’ energy industry team as a partner in Chicago.
Callahan joins McGuireWoods from Paul Hastings, where he led the firm’s North American project finance group. He advises clients in all aspects of the development, financing, acquisition and disposition of energy and other infrastructure projects, including wind and solar facilities, as well as nuclear, gas-fired and coal-fired power plants. He also counsels clients on production and investment tax credits and renewable portfolio standards. Callahan has earned global and nationwide rankings as a leading lawyer from Chambers and Partners.
According to Joanne Katsantonis, leader of the firm’s energy industry team, the addition of Callahan could not come at a better time as significant renewable and infrastructure projects continue to proliferate around the world.
“Tim’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the financing, development and construction of renewable energy, power and infrastructure projects will prove invaluable to our clients,” she said. “We are delighted to welcome him.”
In addition to renewables projects, Callahan negotiates complex public-private partnerships, a key element of the new administration’s infrastructure development plans.
“Tim adds tremendous value to a wide range of clients. He has a well-earned reputation for leading complex transactions involving major projects throughout the United States,” said Christina Egan, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Chicago office.
“McGuireWoods has a deep bench of highly-regarded transactional and litigation attorneys who focus their practices on advising energy companies,” said Callahan. “I look forward to introducing my clients to the firm and to collaborating with team members across the country to serve the firm’s current clients.”
