Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce the addition of partner Sarah Mirza to its global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. She joins the firm from the Silicon Valley IP boutique Artegis Law Group.
“Sarah has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor to an impressive roster of Silicon Valley clients, particularly in the electronics and software space,” said David Elkins, leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. “Her strong technical background, legal acumen and entrepreneurial approach to client development make her a great fit into our global IP&T team.”
Ms. Mirza focuses her practice on building valuable patent portfolios for her clients in the electronics, software technology industry in Silicon Valley. Ms. Mirza has specific expertise in protecting artificial intelligence and machine learning innovations, including innovations in computer vision, generative models, medical imaging, and drug development. Her clients range from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. She also advises and assists clients in enforcing patent and other IP assets and developing and executing defensive strategies with respect to third-party patent assets. Ms. Mirza also routinely performs invalidity and infringement analyses and has been involved in several post-grant proceedings at the USPTO.
Ms. Mirza was a software engineer before starting her legal career. She has technical specialties in areas related to computer science, including AI and machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, databases, complex system architectures, network and computer security, and data analytics. Those specialties enable her to delve deeply into a client’s technologies and develop thoughtful and customized patent strategies.
