Nationally-recognized employee benefits and executive compensation lawyer David I. Schiller, who has substantial experience in all facets of the practice, joined Baker Botts L.L.P. today as a partner in the firm’s Tax department. He will be based in the Dallas office.
Schiller’s practice includes advising on the tax, ERISA, and securities law ramifications of executive compensation, including stock based compensation, nonqualified deferred compensation, employment agreements, golden parachutes, change in control arrangements and severance plans.
“The addition of David is part of our strategy to expand our Tax department and our employee benefits and executive compensation team,” said Baker Botts Managing Partner Andrew M. Baker. “His expertise broadens our ability to counsel clients’ on these complex matters.”
Schiller also has extensive experience in providing clients counsel on matters such as qualified plans, welfare plans and multiemployer plans. He has experience advising on prohibited transactions, plan design, plan terminations, plant closings, tax qualification, collective bargaining benefits issues, ESOPs and plan asset issues.

Prior to joining Baker Botts, Schiller was a partner in the Dallas office of Gibson Dunn. Schiller earned his law degree from Stanford University and his B.A. from Cornell University.
