Jones Day Welcomes Dallas Health Care Transactions Partner Todd Kelly

Todd P. Kelly has joined the Dallas Office of global law firm Jones Day as a partner in the Health Care and Life Sciences practices, where his practice will focus on the representation of hospitals, health systems, medical groups, and other health care providers in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations, and other complex transactional and regulatory matters. He was formerly a partner in the Dallas office of Norton Rose Fulbright.

“Given the profound changes shaking the industry, I’m sure our health care and life sciences clients will be as delighted as I am that Todd has chosen to join us,” said Pat Villareal, Partner-in-Charge of the Dallas Office.

“Todd is an immensely talented health care transactional lawyer, and a tremendous addition to our growing national health care practice,” said James Dutro, the San Francisco-based co-leader of Jones Day’s Health Care Practice. “Todd’s transactional experience and deep understanding of the health care industry allow him to guide hospitals, health systems, and others in the health care industry in their evaluation and implementation of complex transactions in today’s challenging business and regulatory environment.”

The range of Mr. Kelly’s experience includes the acquisition and divestiture of hospitals, ancillary service lines, medical practices, and other health care facilities operations; the structuring, implementation, and syndication of health care joint ventures, including hospitals, surgery centers, and ancillary services providers; and co-management and service-line management arrangements. He also regularly advises on hospital-physician contracting and relationships, physician employment and recruitment, physician practice management, and corporate practice of medicine issues; as well as a wide range of health care regulatory issues, such as physician self-referral (Stark) and fraud and abuse compliance, tax-exemption, licensure, enrollment, certification, accreditation, billing, and reimbursement issues.

A graduate of Southern Methodist University School of Law (J.D. 1988) and Tulane University (B.A. 1985), Mr. Kelly has published and spoken frequently on health care topics.
