On December 1, 2012, Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) entered into an agreement to sell its credit services unit to Equifax Information Services LLC, a subsidiary of Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX), for $1 billion in cash.
The disposition is consistent with CSC’s previously disclosed strategy to focus on its core business and assets.
CSC’s credit services unit, which owns credit files in 15 Midwestern and Central U.S. states representing 20 percent of the U.S. population, is the largest independent U.S. consumer credit reporting agency and has been an Equifax affiliate for more than 20 years.
The deal is expected to close by the end of the calendar year and is subject to regulatory approval.
