Polsinelli Adds Labor & Employment Focus in Texas

National law firm Polsinelli welcomes labor and employment attorney Lon R. Williams, Jr. as a shareholder in the firm’s Dallas office. A seasoned professional, Williams has successfully represented management clients in a wide variety of employment and traditional labor relationships in various industries, including energy, health care, education, financial services, defense contracting and temporary staffing.

“Labor and employment matters are at the forefront of challenges for businesses and Lon’s extensive experience in labor issues provides a valuable resource for our clients,” said Labor and Employment Practice Group Chair W. Terrence Kilroy. “Lon’s addition is part of our ongoing strategy to expand our labor and employment footprint nationally and in Texas.”

The arrival of Williams occurs during a particularly exciting period of growth for Polsinelli, which recently was named by Inc. Magazine as the fastest-growing, full-service law firm in America. Dallas, the firm’s newest office, opened in 2011.

Williams joins a national Labor and Employment Practice Group consisting of more than three dozen attorneys in Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, St. Louis and now Dallas. The attorneys represent Fortune 500 corporations and privately owned entrepreneurial firms throughout the United States.

“I am excited about the opportunity to join Polsinelli because of the firm’s great entrepreneurial spirit where attorneys strive to provide creative solutions to clients in the most efficient way possible,” said Williams, a Texas native. “Dallas is clearly a key part of Polsinelli’s strategic growth plan. And, the firm provides me with a coast to coast and border to border geographic platform to better serve my clients with nationwide operations.”

Williams frequently counsels top executives, which often results in his selection to handle all of their employment-related matters with regard to federal, state and municipal laws and regulations, including wage and hour compliance and employee disciplinary issues, as well as contractual matters involving non competition/business confidentiality agreements and executive employment contracts.

Williams earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1977. He earned a B.A degree from Southern Methodist University in 1970 and an M.S.F.S. from Georgetown University in 1976. Williams is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is affiliated with the SHRM/Texas State Council, where he has served as co-director for Government Affairs/Advocacy since 2007. He also is a past president of the Fort Worth Human Resource Management Association.

Williams has been selected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers for the past nine years and inclusion in Best Lawyers in America (Employment Law-Management and Labor Law-Management) for the past seven years.

Williams is currently serving or has been affiliated with a number of Dallas area organizations, including the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation, the Woodrow Wilson High School Foundation, St. John’s Episcopal School, the Association for Retarded Citizens of Dallas and Child Advocates of Tarrant County Inc.
