Sidley is pleased to announce that Bart Biggers will join the firm as a partner in its Dallas office. Mr. Biggers will be a member of the M&A and Private Equity global practice groups and a co-leader of the aviation practice. He was previously the chair of both the Corporate, Commercial Transactions & Outsourcing Practice Group, and the Airlines Industry Group at Winstead PC.
Mr. Biggers is experienced in advising clients in M&A transactions, outsourcing, workouts and restructuring, corporate finance, and corporate governance matters. He is particularly skilled in advising major international and U.S. domestic airlines on a wide array of business transactions related to acquisitions, fleet management, business process outsourcing, supply chain/procurement, human resources, and general operations. Mr. Biggers has earned a well deserved reputation as a preeminent lawyer and strategic partner to those in the airline and aviation industry.
“Bart’s experience will complement and broaden Sidley’s extensive international airline and aviation practice,” said Kevin Lewis, co-leader of the firm’s aviation practice and co-managing partner of its Houston office. “Together, Bart’s client relationships and the firm’s existing relationships cut a wide swath across the airline industry. Adding Bart will make Sidley a cross-practice destination for airlines and aviation industry clients.”
In the restructuring arena, Mr. Biggers designed, implemented, and executed the process for the assumption, rejection, and renegotiation of contracts for one of the largest chapter 11 airline restructurings in history. His unparalleled experience in the airline industry and familiarity with essentially all types of transactions in this sector make him a sought-after resource.
“Bart’s reputation in the Dallas market, coupled with his invaluable experience within the aviation and airline industry, as well as his work for our existing clients makes him an ideal candidate for our firm,” said Yvette Ostolaza, managing partner of Sidley’s office in Dallas and member of the firm’s Management Committee. “His addition aligns with our strategic plan to continue building out our corporate capabilities in Texas and on a national scale. As a seasoned practitioner, Bart brings preeminent experience and industry insight that will strengthen our ability to counsel clients in today’s evolving landscape.”
“Bart has built a destination practice that serves a wide range of corporate and commercial needs in the airline and aviation sector,” said Scott Parel, co-leader of Sidley’s Private Equity practice and head of the Dallas corporate group. “His experience and reputation make him a go-to strategic counsel and his move to the Sidley platform will expand his capabilities even further. We share the same vision for client service and quality, and I’m excited that Bart will be joining our firm.”
