Clark Hill Strasburger today announced that former Akin Gump Senior Counsel Andrew F. Newman has joined the firm as a member of its Litigation Practice in Dallas.
“Andrew brings litigation and arbitration capabilities focused on the technology and manufacturing sectors, as well as consumer class actions, product liability matters, and investigations,” said Bob Franke, Member-In-Charge of the firm’s Dallas office. “He has represented a broad range of clients in a variety of industry sectors, including businesses in North Texas. He’s an outstanding addition to our Dallas office.”
A 2007 graduate of the University of Texas-Austin School of Law, Newman handles complex contract and business tort issues and has significant experience representing technology providers in software development and licensing disputes. He also has a strong background in alternative dispute resolution.
“Clark Hill provides me with and national platform and diverse litigation opportunities to expand my representation of manufacturing, technology, aerospace, financial services companies, and other business in this region,” said Newman. “I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to expand our litigation presence in this economically active region.”
Newman brings the firm a strong reputation in defending against product liability and personal injury claims involving highway safety products. He has had lead roles in the defense of significant products liability cases across the country, frequently securing walk-away dismissals.
“We welcome Andrew to our growing team of more than 200 attorneys and support professionals at Clark Hill focused on dispute resolution through litigation and arbitration,” said Jerri A. Ryan, co-leader of Clark Hill’s Litigation Group. “He will bring additional strength to our deep bench of litigators and will be able to assist clients across our national platform.”
Newman is a member of the Dallas-Fort Worth Teach for America Alumni Board. He is a 2010 graduate of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (DAYL) Leadership Class and from 2010 to 2013, Newman also was a member of the Dallas Judicial Nominating Commission, which made recommendations on applicants for the City’s municipal courts. He was honored by Texas Monthly as a “Rising Star” from 2014 through 2017.
Prior to joining Akin Gump in 2008, Newman served as a law clerk for the Honorable A. Joe Fish of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
