James Billingsley has joined Duane Morris LLP as a partner in the firm’s Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring Practice Group in its Dallas office. Prior to joining Duane Morris, Billingsley was a senior partner at Polsinelli PC.
“The ongoing expansion of our already strong and high-performing Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring Practice Group is a priority, given the challenging economy, and we are already experiencing robust client demand,” said Duane Morris Chairman and CEO Matthew A. Taylor. “We have added a talented partner in James Billingsley. Our Dallas office continues to grow at a steady pace, which bolsters our overall position in Texas, a strategic focus of our firm.”
“James will contribute his experience in a range of industries, and he has broad and strong relationships across multiple sectors as well,” said Meagen E. Leary, co-chair of Duane Morris’ Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring Practice Group. “He is a great addition to our team. We excel at providing innovative and cost efficient solutions for clients, which is well appreciated in these times,” added Wendy M. Simkulak, co-chair of Duane Morris’ Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring Practice Group.
“In less than three years, we have grown our office into a dynamic, full service legal resource for clients in the metroplex region,” said Randy D. Gordon, managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office. “At the same time, we have maintained a substantial profile on behalf of clients across the United States and internationally.”
For more than 25 years, Billingsley has handled matters ranging from complex business and bankruptcy to commercial disputes, asset acquisitions and financial services matters. He has extensive experience representing banks, lenders and financial institutions in financial services litigation, receiverships and bankruptcy cases; commercial landlords and other property owners in real estate litigation, bankruptcy and leasehold matters; manufacturers and supply chain companies in litigation and insolvency disputes; troubled companies in financial distress; and private equity and strategic buyers in the acquisition of distressed assets. Billingsley’s experience spans the commercial marketplace from financial services to manufacturing, real estate, retail, energy and aviation.
“Having seen the trajectory and growth of Duane Morris in Dallas, I’m very pleased to be part of a dynamic, growing firm and look forward to using its platform to expand my practice nationally,” said Billingsley.
Billingsley is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law-Austin (J.D., with honors), where he was administrative editor of the Review of Litigation, and the University of Texas at Arlington (B.B.A.).
