The Dallas office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Brandon McCarthy as a partner in the government enforcement practice. McCarthy arrives at K&L Gates from the United States Attorney’s Office in Dallas, where he was an Assistant United States Attorney for nearly eight years, most recently in the fraud/white-collar crime section.
With a broad range of experience in the government sector and through private practice, McCarthy will focus on regulatory, investigation, and litigation matters involving fraud and white-collar crime, including health care, investment, securities, banking, and tax fraud; copyright and trademark infringement; False Claims Act cases; and SEC and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations. McCarthy brought more than 160 trials to verdict while with the United States Attorney’s Office — where he also served as chair of the Attorney General’s ID Theft Task Force — and in his previous role as a felony prosecutor with the Dallas County District Attorney’s office.
“We are delighted to welcome Brandon to K&L Gates,” said John Garda, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Dallas office. “With his deep government enforcement and trial experience, Brandon will enhance both our Dallas and growing worldwide government enforcement practices.
“We are really excited about increasing our investment in the robust Dallas legal market. With Brandon’s hire, we take another critical step forward in that process,” Garda continued.
K&L Gates’ government enforcement practice is one of the largest, most comprehensive, and most geographically diverse such practices of any law firm. McCarthy is one of a number of lateral additions to K&L Gates’ Dallas office this year, including new arrivals in the healthcare, real estate, corporate/M&A, and banking and finance practice areas.
